After the inspection

Turn inspection findings into controlled action.

When an inspection identifies problems, Yes Chef AI Protective helps your team organise corrective actions, evidence the work and keep management follow-up visible.

Yes Chef AI supports the improvement and evidence process. It does not award ratings, replace the local authority, or guarantee an inspection outcome.

The work after findings

From inspection finding to ongoing control.

This workflow is especially relevant to businesses working to improve an FHRS 0–3 rating. It does not guarantee a higher rating, and it does not replace the inspecting officer’s instructions.

  1. 01 Understand the findings

Work from the officer’s written report, not the rating number alone.

  2. 02 Turn findings into actions

Separate each observation into a required improvement.

  3. 03 Assign responsibility

Give every action a responsible person and a way to close it.

  4. 04 Record the corrective work

Keep what changed visible in the same operational workspace.

  5. 05 Attach evidence

Photographs, logs and sign-offs sit with the relevant record.

  6. 06 Verify completion

Close the action only after management review.

  7. 07 Maintain the improved controls

Keep temperatures, cleaning, checks and HACCP running after the tidy-up.

Work from the officer’s report

The inspecting officer’s written findings remain the source record. Separate food-handling, premises and food-safety management issues, then turn each one into a follow-up record with evidence and manager review.

Keep the kitchen running while you improve

Recovery is not a one-off tidy-up. Temperature checks, cleaning rotas, morning and closing checklists, goods receiving and HACCP controls need to stay visible while corrective actions close.

Prepare for re-rating only when ready

A re-rating inspection can result in a higher, lower or unchanged rating. Request it after improvements are complete and evidence shows the new process is being maintained — not before.

If you specifically received an FHRS rating of 3, see the informational guide: Food hygiene rating 3: what to do next. Rating 3 means generally satisfactory; it is not a failed inspection, and it is not the only rating Protective is built for.
